The Soils in Action Field Day is scheduled for Oct. 22, 2026, from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. just north of Holloway’s mine site in Lost Hills, CA. The event will include innovative exhibits, interactive demos and presentations, and a BBQ Lunch.

What should I wear, bring to the event?
Because this is an outdoors event held in the field, be sure to dress appropriately for sun exposure and the elements. Boots and jeans are encouraged in the field. Don’t forget sunscreen and a hat as well as a jacket. Drinks will be provided.
Average temperatures for Lost Hills in late October: you can generally expect warm, dry autumn weather with daytime temperatures peaking around 89°F and dropping to an overnight low around 60°F. Skies are typically clear to partly cloudy with mild breezes. Other than that, bring a notepad and pen and get ready to learn!
